One item- two transfers

Hi All...

A company is having two locations- X & Y where X being the factory location and Y being the marketing office. The customer asks for samples of some item to Y location and an executive from this location will ask X location to provide the same through Sample Request. X location sends the sample to Y location along with lab results and sample invoice. After the sample reaches Y location, the samples along with the invoice are sent to the customer from this location (means X location does not send sample and invoice directly to the Customer). How will you handle this situation in navision? The information required to get printed on Sample Request is more or less similar to those available on Sales Order.

The company requires two reports based on this- Sample Sending status from location X to Y and Sample sending status from Y to Customer.

Waiting for reply.. :!:

May be that you can do it like this:

    1) There is SO from Y to Customer for the items
    2) Replanishment for SKU for this Item and location Y is set to transfer from location X.
    3) If you use the Requisition journal, it will create Transfer order for this item automatically. You can create the reports over this transfer order.

This is just the rough way. You need to go through it and think about details...

customer asks for samples of some item to Y location and an executive from this location will ask X location to provide the same through Sample Request.

As required by you, the process involve two transactions:

Transfer from X to Y Location : Need to create Transfer Order from X to Y
Transfer from Y to Customer : Need to create Free Trade Sample Invoice (Assuming zero value transfer) for Customer from Location Y.

Transfer Order from X to Y can be created using requistion worksheet as suggested by kine.
This will fulfill both the reporting requirement also.

    Thanks for your reply..

The trouble here is the Sample Invoice needs to be generated from Location X only. So, the point is if sample invoice is generated once from location X, can the same item be transfered again from location Y to customer?

You need to divide it into two things. Printed documents and real item-flow in system. It is on you, when you will print the Sample invoice, it is on you which data will be there. It depends on the work-flow, when you need that document. If the item is transfered to another location at first and shipped from there, it is another thing.

Dear Kine, thanx for the reply..

Now, here the sample invoice will be generated at location X only and then along with the samples, it will be sent to location Y- here I am talking about the physical transfer of samples and invoice document. Now the question comes- once the invoice is actually generated, can the samples be transfered again from location Y?

Also, does Navision location has standard functionality like setting one location to transfer from another location?

You are confusing it all :

    Refer my earlier message
Transfer from X to Y Location : Need to create Transfer Order from X to Y
Transfer from Y to Customer : Need to create Free Trade Sample Invoice (Assuming zero value transfer) for Customer from Location Y.

No matter how physically goods move and when you post the transactions in the system. That decision is upto u , ur company and the client. These two transactions will be posted in the system. The first transaction will post the transfer of goods from location X to location Y and the second transaction will post the transfer of goods from location Y to Customer.
Though you will not charge any money from the customer , you will have to prepare invoice to document the transaction and because of application of indian taxes.

Provision of transfer order exists in the system.

I hope this might clear your doubts.
i advice you to take help of Functional Consultant (Trade and Logistics).
