Need help to start a business in Mexico

Captain_DX4Captain_DX4 Member Posts: 230
The Canadian company I am currently with is looking to begin business in Mexico. We've already setup the business, but the issue we are experiencing now is about invoicing.

We have been told that to invoice in Mexico, we are required to get a block of invoice numbers from the government, print the invoice with one of the specific numbers, and that we must receive back the invoice signed and dated by the receiver of the company we ship our goods to.

We have been unable to locate any local Mexican resources to aid us in our efforts to learn this process, figure out the goverment contacts, and other requirements. We have talked to a couple of resources (an invoicing printing agency and a lawyer) who said they would provide for us the invoice numbers for a regular fee, which just seems ridiculous. We are looking to become self-sufficient in this process.

So we need help in this issue, be it from any existing customers in the Mexico market who already perform these tasks, any Navision NSC who understands and has the specifics for the tasks, or other consultant. The resource we are looking for should be bilingual in Spanish and English.

Our internal deadline is to have this resolved by Friday, January 12/07.

(Moderators: I was going to post this in Jobs-Offered forum, but this is for one-time help, not employment, so I was not sure if I should.)

here in mexico we have a very problematic government

you can have two types of sales invoice, manual (paper) and electronic

in manual (paper) you need to gt your sales invoices throught a printing business with federal ID number to make this activity, you buy some hundreds of invoices and you ca make sales.

also you can use electronic sales invoice, you only need to get your advanced electronic signature (FEA firma electronica avanzada), your certificate and get your number from SHCP (mexican IRS)

tell me, what kind of business are you going to start?

hearing this, doesn't the gov realize that this just hinders businesses doing any work. Why are they doing this?

In India also, Excise (tax on manufacturing) laws require sequential numbering of the invoice though in the system you can have seprate series for you invoice of different line of bussiness. A big ](*,) .

Earlier the preprinted invoices were pre authenticated by the excise officer as well as the authourized signatory of the bussiness unit. But atleast this requirement is gone.

Tax requirement in developing and under developed countries are very cumbersome :(

Yep, this is about what we were told. What we didn't have was all the contact information, but the local Chamber of Commerce has put us in contact with a very nice lawyer who is consulting for us to get all the issues resolved.

The business is a distribution/logistics company. One of our most recognized business functions would be video games and Sony game consoles in Canada. I know we're going to be distributing games in Mexico, but I'm not sure how much of our product lines in Canada will be distributed in Mexico.

You would think, but that does not seem to be the mandate for many governments in the world today. *hehe*

If you have stores to public sales you can emit sales invoices throught a electronic cashier with the goverment permission

or you can extend an invoice per sale, but you need to buy the invoices

if you sell to other companies you need manual invoices or electronic invoices

for more info about electronic invoices go to
