International Accounting - server location

Our intention was to the put localized navision versions onto a terminal server inside our central data center. From the technical aspect this would be the ideal option.
But it seems -due to law restrictions- that we have to run the whole accounting system in the country where the tax has to be paid.

As I know some companies who have centralized systems I can't fully believe this. Has anyone an Idea how this is working .

the only thing I ever heared of is that some types of companies has to run the entire system in the country itself because of data in the system that is very confidential, and can't leave the country. This was mainly CRM data ... not accountancy information.

As far as I know (limited to some not all countries) all the accounting information i.e entries, ledger, subledger & related supporting documents should be available in the country where tax is paid. The physical storage of the database is no where part of it.
Further you can make the arrangement of keeping back-up in the country which might suffice need of the info in case central server is inaccessible.
