Blocking Print Screen

ssinglassingla Member Posts: 2,973
Dear Friends,

My Client has some data which is very confidental. Leaking of the same to outsiders may result in lost bussiness opurtunities. For that purpose they wanto block the print screen functionality of Windows in Navision i.e. user can not paste "print screen" on word or other programmes.

Is this possible :-k

    Not from Navision.
The printscreen is Windows-functionality, so you should search Windows-forums to do that.

A/ yes its the wrong forum, but b/ its probably the wrong customer.

You need to address this immediately, or the issue will just grow out of hand. If the company has employees that it does not trust, it should sack them. If the management do not trust any of the employees, then the managers should be sacked, and if the company does not trust its management team, then it should close business and do something else.

My first step would be to go to the client site with a digital camera, and take photo of the screen, and then show how easy and secret that is.

PS good luck, because I know what its like when a manger somewhere gets ideas like this in their head. ](*,)

Ya I understand, but in this part of India , there is fierce competition and the competitors are cutting each others throat. So u cannot trust. Moreover the public/employee are not so sophisticated to use digital camera.
So the owner of the company has asked for this and I was searching Microsoft site and I have found some security tool which can do it.

Hmm and I guess that in "that part of India" they also don't have cell phones? I got emailed a series of screen shots from a Navision Exam that were taken with a cell phone, and the questions were quite readable. The guy that sent them said he was from India.

Never underestimate the technical prowess of users. Especially if, as you seem to suggest, they are deliberately trying to steal for profit.

BTW I have read a few of your posts, and its clear that you are a person of high morals, and you do know your way around business, so don't think I am trying to tell you how to handle your client, :) as you for sure know them better than I do, but please don't let them drag you down, it could be a very depressing implementation, and might be better to find a new customer.

    Dear Friends,

There is no hard feelings and your views are welcome. Sometimes you face some clients who have their own views and are not ready to change.
Seems the case with me :cry::cry:

I would take a cell phone with a good resolution camera, and take some screen shots to wake them up a bit.

Oh and yes we all have had "that" customer at some time.

    Dear Friends,

Have a look on this article for Best Practices for Application Design
    http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/aa362309.aspx

Navision have a different philosophy i.e. "openess".
