Does anyone has experience with the NEW released Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 and the Employee Portal of 402?
When i want to install the EP the system says please install Sharepoint....
Hope anyone has more info ](*,)
I've got the same problem here :?
Has anyone found a solution for this?
I looked into the SP3 release notes and didn't notice any changes on this one...
Isn't there a possibility to open the msi file without the check for required components?
I've got a problem like this.
I have setup SharePoint Services 3.0. when i started NAV 4.0 SP3 Employee portal setup, it gave me an error:"Windows Sharepoint Services must be installed on this machine before this installation can continue"..
when i removed SharePoint Services 3.0 from my computer and re-started the NAV 4.0 SP3 Employee portal setup, it gave me the same error again!
i think that even if SharePoint Services 3.0 installed, NAV 4.0 SP3 Employee portal setup can not find it.
(i followed the instruction in w1w1ep.pdf document exactly.)
Yes, they promised me that this month a hotfix or solution for this issue will be released !
Debugging is twice as hard as writing code. Therefore if you write the code as cleverly as possible you are by definition not smart enough to debug it.
Today I was informed by Microsoft that the update to use Windows SharePoint Service 3.0 and Navision Employee portal is expected to be availble in september 2007.
The update will be made available through Partnersource.

I have been in touch with Microsoft Danmark about this update.
apparantly the update is still in security testing.
Estimated is that will at least take another 2 weeks, if no big issues are found.
I would say beginning november is probably our best shot.
I am keeping a permanent support case about this hotfix from the last July and the last answer was:
" undefined release date "
While the hoffix is released I have decided to install at the same server WSS 2.0 and WSS3.0 (or MOSS 2007 instead the last one) in several customers.
In this scenarie you can install NEP on WSS 2.0 and use MOSS 2007 to create the main site collection. The only trick is to publish WSS 2.0 web pages (with the Navision web parts) into MOSS 2007 web pages through links for example.
up to now I have the portal running with Cronus DB.
We have no other portalconfigured, but are working on our own addon which will have the portal capabilities (had to wait for this update to come out)
No documentation on migration paths etc. I expect migrating from wss 2.0 to 3.0 of moss to be a pain in the #$%.
Anyway, the cronus environment works perfectly. But do not take my anser for granted, please do some test as well.
A few days ago Microsoft released a new version of Employee Portal for Dynamics NAV 5.0. This update is now available for you to download at PartnerSource.
Employee Portal for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0 includes all the known functionality from earlier versions of Employee Portal and in addition supports Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 (WSS 3.0) and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS 2007).
This new release of Employee Portal should also work with Dynamics-NAV 4.0SP3, but in this case should can not use compression.
On Partnersource you can find:
Product for download
Fact Sheet to support the sales process
Installation Guide to support installation
Can anyone confirm that this does not work with Windows 2003 X64 (64 bits) version? If I try to install the software, it does not recognise the SharePoint Services installation eventhough it is installed. However, if I try it on the 32 bits version, it installs without a hitch...

I have searched MS sites for this hotfix but I don't find any. Anyone knows if the hotfix is released yet and if where I can find it?

It is a very similar situation.
It is possible.

At last!!!!
But, I think that this fix is related to NAV 5.0.
Does anybody know if this new fix works with NAV 4.0 SP3?
My best regards.
the update for NAV 5.0 should also run with NAV 4.0 SP3 with the limitation, that you can not activate "Compression".

Rainer

What you can do is install 32bit MOSS3.0 or SS2007.
If all goes well then it should work, but only in 32 bit mode.
Microsoft says they will not plan to run on 64 bit NEP.
