Check with File -> Database -> Info if you are using the correct database.
If it is, and Navision asks for a UserID & Password, then you need to supply one. It won't ask this if there isn't a user defined. No support using PM or e-mail - Please use this forum. BC TechDays 2024: 13 & 14 June 2024, Antwerp (Belgium)0 -

There is only one way that Navision starts asking for a user name and that is to enter one first. It will not ask for one if there are none.0

I have the same problem with the Cronus DB sa local fdb. Without any users. I dont set it. I used before windows autethification. And now i get error "The combination of user ID and password enered is invalid. Try again." I don't need the data of course but the objects stored in. Is there some way to export objects without log in ?0

someone has added some new database or windows loghin within navision.
If there is nothing set, Navision let's you access with any valid loghin (SQL).
If it is SQL you can look into the User table or Windows Loghin table from sql server manager and see what user and you can set a password for that user . If it is a fdb file you are in trouble. There is a (20 of "?") user name and no password but I hadn't seen it work.
Hope it helpsovidiu

User security doesn't just happen. Someone added it to your database, or it was part of the backup that you used. If you are sure there should not be any user information in the database, then you should be able to select database authentication and get in without providing a login/password.
If that is not the case, then you will have to create a new database, restore the backup, and BEFORE CLOSING create your own database user, and assign it to the SUPER role.
By the way, the row of ????? was not intended to be funny. In older versions that was a backdoor way back into the Navision database. You enter 20 question marks, and the system would give you a code. You'd then give your database to Navision and they'd be able to crack it open. At some point, that option was removed, and does not work anymore.0 -
Than you need to switch the Authentication from "Database Server Authentication" to "Windows Authentication" when opening the database. It is why NAV is asking you for User ID and Password. If you are using windows authentication, you need to set it correctly.
And nobody says that it is funny... I just says that solution with 20 question marks, after which NAV show dialog box with special code, this, code user sent to Navision and they replied with another code which unlocked the db, is not working anymore in version 4.xx.
(Edit: it seems that Daniel answered it as well... :-))0 -

Yes of course I have "Windows Authentification". What do You mean when you say "If you are using windows authentication, you need to set it correctly." ? I don't make any changes in my system, but I am conected to the LAN. What can be wrong ? ......and it is not funny that I cannot use 20 of ?. Thanks for yours replays.
