problem in importing from Excel (very urgent plz)

Hi every one.

its very urgent plz.
can anyone help me how to import the excel file

i have created a dataport and the properties are set as
startdelimiter and Enddelimiter as <None> and field seperator <,> and
the excel file is .csv
my dataport is customer.

when i am trying to import .csv file, if the name is samson, an unknown value like ¨ŸÊí€ is filled in the customer name,and other records are also not imported in the customer table.
plz help me ](*,)

try to open the file with notepad and check its content

did you save the file from Excel as csv.? or u change file extension?
u can choose text tab delimeted.

It looks like the file is still xls and not csv, open it with Notepad and view the contents.

Remember to use the MS-DOS csv option when saving from Excel.

Hi Ashok,
I encountered the same problem while importing with a dataport a few days ago. Later i checked it only to find that the file was still in excel format, not in csv format. Just convert it to csv and u will see that the import takes place properly.
