Hi,

I'm not able to show the help content from Navision through a Server. That means all User take the client for Navision from a Server. Everything works well up to show the content of the help.

Thanks and best regards

I believe for the help content that you must make sure the help files are installed along with the client software installation, or make sure you copy them to the client folder after installation.

    Hi Captain DX4,

it's all done. I can use the navigation area from the help file. I can use all registers, the contents register, the index register and so on on the left side of the window. But the right side of the window has no content. There comes "The side cannot be indicated"

It can be connected to the Security groups. The server folder is automatically in the Intranet zone, but the local disc is in Trusted sites. Try to lower the security for intranet sites zone in the internet explorer. If it doesn't help, restore the settings back. If the users are running the client through UNC path (\\servername\xxxx\), you can try to map the folder as some new disc and run it through disc letter (Y:\...).

    Dear kine,

I did try your recommendations but nothing works. I'm sure the help files are from the server because I havent' any Client on my workstation. I think also it has something to do with the security.

Anyway thank you for your help.

Do you mean that you installed from a shared file on the server. Or do you mean that you are directly running the fin.exe file that is located on the server.

That worked pretty much OK up to version 2.60. 3.10 worked, but had a few problems, but since 3.70 it has been problematic if you don't have the product installed locally, and 4.00 really does not like it.

Or am I missunderstanding, and you have actully installed from the client into a shared folder?

No you don't missunderstanding. I installed the client only on the server. And at the server is a share for the user.

Means your question if I would install from a workstation into a shared folder it would function? It would probably only function for the work station of out one installed. Is ist like that?

Correct. The issue is not so much accessing the files, as having the registry updated onthe client. I can't see why you couldn't install all the clients into the same shared folder, just make sure the zup files and temp files are stored locally on the client.

PS why do you want to do this, its only a few megabytes?

I think it will be easier if have to update all the clients of the user. I would have only update for one installation.

And all works fine up to the help file. It's a pity.

But I see it's not the idea of Navision. So I will roll out the new update to all workstations.
