Hi Great Day All,
I would like to know is there any default Functionality in Navision where after the particular date, the user should not be able to use the Navision Database.
(or) if not.....
How to handle this scenario?
Eg: 31/12/06
After this date the user should be restricted to use the navision database and i should not allow to restore the old backup also.
Help me how to do this?
Thanks
Madhan

Hello Madhan,
In case you use database authentication and not windows, then when creating logins in the database logins form (Tools->Security->Database Logins you can restrict the user of login after a specific date. A part from the help follows:Expiration Date Field
The User Table
This field contains the date after which this user will no longer be able to log on to Navision and access the current database.
You can disable a user from restoring or backing up a database with a specific role and permissions.
I don't know any way of limiting windows authentication, maybe some custom code could be used... (in cu1 for example, and using a specific role, or field on the User setup table)
For more info about security you could check the "Installation and System Management manual" that exists in the installation cd.0 -
When using Windows Authentication, this limitation can be done through Active Directory, but you can just disable whole account - it means, he will not login into windows anymore. But disabling just loging into Nav when using Windows auth. - in my opinion there is no way...0

Thanks Arhontis,
Let me try this and update you. But, before that let me ask one question, whether the Expiration Date in the user table will according to the system date or workdate?
Thanks

of course, system date. Because workdate is set after your success login... :-)0

Dear frens,
I have to disable the "Work Date" option from the Tools menu so that there should not any provision to change the work date and automatically the work date has to take the system date. I have looked for this in Security-->Roles-->Role Permissions-->SYSTEM object type. But I am unable to get that idea. I will be very thankful to all if I could get some solution for this as soon as possible.
Regards & Thanks in advance..Dilip
Falling down is not a defeat..defeat is when you refuse to get up.0
