Setting up production BOMS

Is it necessary when creating a production BOM that you also specify the relevant items as assemblies - to create a normal BOM?

Thoughts would be appreciated

The number of levels you want is totally up to you and your customer. Just try it and check what happens when you create production orders and run planning.

What I meant was I have it set up as production BOM - but do I need to set them up as normal boms in inventory aswell?
