Multi-Language Navision

Hi,
I have a question about multi-language functionality as I have never approached this before. We have a potential customer for Navision with around 100 UK users and upto 400 other users across multiple countries.
Is there any restrictions on the localised versions of Navision we should be buying given that we will want to do consolidation across the companies in each country - whether this be using one central database or a database in each country for scalability purposes.
I guess in laymans terms - can the local versions talk to each other!
Any suggestions appreciated.

Compatibility between local versions of Navision is big problem. Some local versions are nearly unchanged WW1 version, some are highly customized for local needs. There are more ways how to solve that. But it needs analysis to say more...0

Hi,
In our company we have 3 databases (Belgium, Cyprus and the USA). Poland, China and others will follow soon. Of course, not all customizations that we made are required on each location. The procedures in our warehouse in the US are for example slightly different then in the warehouse in BE. Also the modifications to CRM in the US are not all the same as in CY.
Of course, certainly on management level, we want to have a global overview of for example our sales, inventory levels etc.
We created kind of a data warehouse that collects data from all databases. Our reporting is based on that external database. You can also create that data warehouse as a new company in your master database in your HQ for example. There are enough possibilities and methods in Navision to make this work and to automate this. As you know each country has its own rules and regulations for example on VAT level. I think it’s almost impossible to merge all these rules into one “global” database. Also think about future upgrades…

Hi,
Thanks for the replies.
Dany - I like the idea of the data warehouse used to collect the data from each country and this is how I envisaged we would approach it. I think also that we are best to use the localised versions in each country - like you say the bits we want to consolidate are sales, inventory etc.
