Fixed Asset: "Allow Posting to Main Assets Field"

Dear everyone,

I would like to know the function behind the setup "Allow Posting to Main Assets Field" found in FA setup. Can anyone please tell me how to use this function? I created 3 Fixed Assets (Main, M-kid1, M-kid2), and wanting to put M-kid1 and M-kid2's transaction to Main, but was unsuccessful.

I tried searching in the help and in the user manuals, but got nothing useful. Any information will be appreciated.
