Navision Date Format

Hi all,

I just got a job in Accounts Payable a week ago and we're using Navision to print reports, etc. I'm a first time user and I'm trying to change the date format shown in Navision Attain from mm/dd/yy to dd/mm/yy.

I heard that by changing the system date format, Navision will reflect the change. So I tried changing my system date (Control Panel-Regional and Language Options) to dd/mm/yy and rebooted my system, but Navision is still showing as mm/dd/yy. What am I doing wrong or Is there any other way to change the date format on the client?

I tried contacting my helpdesk and they couldn't figure out why Navision wouldn't reflect the date format used in Windows. I work with dates a lot so I need to try to figure this out asap. I don't know where else to turn for help so I came to this forum. Thanks in advance. :)

PS: Please be nice to me, I'm new. [-o<

    1) Welcome to this forum
    2) It is hard to answer "why" - Why? Because there are many because...
    3) It is working - but the report cannot use text variable for outpu, cannot use format command to format the output and cannot use another way how to override the standard automatic date output format.
    4) it means, I cannot check why the date is going out in wrong format. I checked this:

    a) My common date format is dd.mm.yyyy - I tested that date is going in this format out (20.10.2006)
    b) I changed the regional settings, date section, short date to M/dd/yyyym commited the change (there is not restart needed0
    c) I closed Navision and started it again
    d) I tested the date output - the date was showed in correct format - 10/20/2006

    If you are customer (end-user), you need to contact your NSC (partner). If you have designer license (report desiner granule etc.), you can check the report for more "because". It seems like the report have somehow overriden the format which is used.

    @Selvie
    If the regional setting is "English (USA)", Navison formats dates totally different than with all other settings. Check that "English (Australia)" is selected. There may also be customized date formats in Reports, Forms etc.

    From 1930 to 2029, the format is dd/mm/yy. Before and after these years the format is dd/mm/yyyy. These automatic display properties may be changed by using the FORMAT function.
