I am trying to set up a second Navision service on windows server 2003.
Presently we have one running on a second server, also running server 2003.
After I install Navision as a service and start the service, I receive a message when trying to set the database server name, via the . The error comse back with TCP/IP... host can not be found. Then it goes on to state that the host file needs to be changed... see your administrator.
Apparently I am missing something somewhere.

Could you be clear aboutI receive a message when trying to set the database server name, via the .
So does the service start?
You cannot connection from the client? try the ip address.0 -
Yes, according to the "services" on the server, the Navision service is started. I also made sure that the original Navision service on server 1 was stopped.
i will try using the IP address and see what happens.0 -
Let us know if it worked.0

My error, I was entering the "service" name instead of the "server" name.
Now I have another issue. Our Navision database is in three parts. When I try to connect to the "new" server I receive this message from the server:
The operating system can not find the drive and directory specified for the file ***part 2.fdb. When I installed Navision as a service I only specified **** part 1.fdb. How do I add the 2nd and 3rd parts to this so the service knows these files exist?0 -
1) You need to open the DB once with client in single user mode to correct the link between the files
2) YOu need to enter the file name in form filename1+filename2+filename3
Example:c:\DB\File1.fdb+d:\DB\File2.fdb+e:\DB\File3.fdb
3) After that, you can connect the server to this DB as you have now and run the service....0
