SQL Stored Procedures and NAV Sync

I need to advise a client what stored procedures are run when performing Permission synchronisation in Nav 3.60. This is to assist me in justifying to the IT Manager why they should give one of thier users high SQL level permissions.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a tool or some way of showing this ?

As for SQL side, i'm sure its SecurityAdmin SQL role on the database, but this makes the client very nervous.

TIA.

Have him try synchronizing without those permissions and look at the error messages.

    Hi Daniel,

nice thought, but I need to attack this from the opposite angle in case its one of those where it stops at the first error but doesn't show anything that may follow.

I started to look at SQL profiler and this seems to be giving me something at least :-k

I don't get attitudes like that. I can imagine you don't want to give admin rights to everybody, but what is the issue with assigning db_owner to one or two power users?

<edit>Oh and you're right, the SQL Profiler is what youre looking for, that can log anything on SQL Server that you want to look at.</edit>

    Hi Daniel,

they already have these roles assigned within the IT structure, but I'm asking to add someone outside of this normal structure and this is why they are cautious.

Let's see if I understand this..They trust these people to have unlimited access (SUPER) to the company's accounting data but don't trust them to manage user accounts?

This doesn't sound like a technology problem.

Solution: Train someone in IT to manage the Navision users and security. Soon enough they will grow tired of it and give someone in accounting the access.
