Business Notifications and Employee Portal on same server

hello all!

Working on setting up Employee Portal and Business Notifications on same 2003 server. Both components work fine by themselves, but if i put them both on one server, business notifications stop working. i am assuming sharepoint takes over the permissions. But i may be wrong. Also, i want to put smart tags on the same server, dont know if thats going to work or not.
