Hi,

I need to taka backup of 2 companies from our production database and restore that in a different database. How do I schedule this to happen at a later time?

I know that I could schedule a SQL server job to do this but that includes the whole database. I just need 2 companies from 30 companies in our database. Thanks in advance for any help.

I am afraid you cannot do that easily.

Navision-backups can only be taken interactively.
So you need a keyboard recorder to do it.
So you record the whole thing in a Navision client and at a certain point you start the recording that opens Navision and does the backup.

Use an external tool: ExpandIT Backup Utility

Thanks Kriki & Luc Van Dyck for your replies. I looked at the ExpandIT utility but it will take only back up, no restore.

I knew that it is not going to be that easy. Kriki, could you please elaborate about keyboard recording and the steps involoved to achieve this. Thanks again.

    I never did it myself.
I just heard of a lot of persons using it and it seems to work.
Try to search on http://www.tucows.com. There you should find some programs to do it.

that would be quite a problem if he has to backup/restore only few companies... first time he add/remove one company (and lot of people makes test companies) keyboard will not help him anymore. at least, until he reprogramm keyboard sequence.

I know, but I don't see another way to automate it.
