Connection error

This morning I suddenly started getting this error when logging in to the database in our server:

"There was a time-out in an attempt to establish a connection with the server (TCP/IP error TIMEDOUT)."

Since I seemed to be the only one having this problem (ten other users have no problem at all), I suspect it must be some configuration changes in my pc that caused this. Although I recently ran an optimization program (actually more than a week ago already), the error did not appear immediately after and I'm using Navision everyday.

Thanks for the help.

Try first to ping your server.
If you don't receive a reply, it means you have some problem with the network.

Thanks for the reply. yes I already did that and ping is ok. In fact all other network shares in the same server are accessible to me from windows explorer. Is there a registry setting that specifies some timeout parameters related to this that I can tweak? I have a suspicion that the optimization I did may have changed such a parameter and caused this error, although it looks like a long shot given the fact that i optimized more than a week already and the problem occured only now.

I was pinging the ip of the server and it was ok. But when i did using the server common name, I didn't get the usual reply. Then I checked my LAN DNS setting and found that my primary DNS is that of our ISP. I moved up our local dns to the top and ping using the common name was ok. The connection error was also gone.
