Dear Friend,

There are some fields called Length,Width,Weight and Depth in the Production BOM line and these can be utilised under Calculation formula.
Just suggest me what is the function of these fields and where it can be used?

Best Regards

    Hi,

The calculation Formula help you to caclulate the product quantity you need.
For Exemple, your item in the BOM Line is WOOD and the BOM is to make a door.
Your Item wood have this size :

    Lenght : 2
    Widh : 2

You need 1 Meter square of wood to make your door.

So, in the calculation formula you put "Length * Width" and the field quantity will be 4 for WOOD. It means that the wood consumption will be 4 to make 1 door.

    Hope Helps you.

    Bye !

I redefine for you that I grap from F1 - online help, as follows:

    Calculation Formula Field
    The Production BOM Line Table

Here you can choose how to calculate the Quantity field.
Determine the calculation formula by clicking the AssistButton to the right of the field and select one of the following

    options:
    Blank
    Quantity = Quantity per
    Length
Quantity = Length * Quantity per
    Length * Width
Quantity = Length * Width * Quantity per
    Length * Width * Depth
Quantity = Length * Width * Height * Quantity per
    Weight
Quantity = Weight * Quantity per

From the above definition, you know that production BOM is a tool for manufacturing company to define one product's raw material contents and structures (one product which can have different unit of measure (UOM) with its raw materials (it means that your raw materials can be stocked in different UOM with finish good UOM. This is apply too when you want to create recipes, std production BOM in the machinery industry, food industry and etc.

    Rgds,

I think the formulas are useful for data maintenance. If you got 800 types of doors and you decide to make 400 of the 10 cm higher, you don't have to recalculate everything, just update a measure in the formula.
