Increase Item Code Size in the Item Master table

Dear Friends

I would like to increase the size of the Item Code in the Item Master table, let say Code 20 to Code 40. ](*,) What are the problems will occur and How to Solve/Overcome those problems. Pls anyone can advise me on that.

There will be an error whenever you open forms or tables contains the items code. Just use the developer toolkit to check wherever the items code used. For example, ITE (item ledger entry), production BOM, purchase order, etc..

In one phrase:DON'T DO IT!
Like johnson alonso said, you will get errors everywhere and after months the customer is working without errors, others will come up. Years ago, I had a colleague who has don't it with all these problems as a result.
And we aren't talking yet about a future upgrade....
Better is to create an extra field an copy that everywhere it is needed. Or use "Description 2".
