Color for Reports

qngoqngo Member Posts: 58
I'm trying to create a report for shaded fields, but it doesn't seem to print. I was using the color tool, but under the section designer, there's color but not on the hard copy. Any ideas? ](*,)

It does not work. The only thing you can use is a colored bitmap. Please search the forum to find similar topics. Hint: try searching on "color and reports".

If all you want is a few shaded fields then perhaps you can use this as an example

Using a bitmap as part of the background - perhaps it will give you a few ideas.

Thanks Harry for that demo. I wasn't quite sure how or where to store a bit map for cell shaded areas. I was able to use your image, and it works for me. If you can give me more info on how to store image for report writing, that would be great.

Well, It's not my image..the Author of that download is Jan Hoek.

What Kind of other info do you need?

You can store images inside & outside of navision to use when needed

    Hi,
It is common problem with report printouts in all ERP systems. If you are printing management reports they should be colored and well designed, but printouts from Navision looks like crap.
There are third part software called Lasernet http://efstech.com/index.php?id=225&type=1
If your customer wants nice reports then it is best solution to use something like that.

If the report looks like crap, it's not the fault of Navision but of the person who designed the report.

Sorry, Luc, but I can`t agree with you... I use Crystal from its v3 or v4, and when 6 years ago I came to Navision world, it was rather difficult for me to get used to Navision principles of doing things, but I never get used to what they call 'report writer' ](*,)

Luckily its easy to use Crystal with SQL option , you can do it with native base, too. As I already wrote in dynamicsusers.org, there are more advantages of using 3rd party reportwriters, not only nice look & layout.
Navision reports take endless time to do simple things, you must leave them running overnight -- or even for weekend -- to complete. Instead, stored procedure on MS SQL to collect data & Crystal as front end does the job in minutes.

One of the top advantages is that you can create an endless # of reports too. You don't have to worry about having to buy more #'s.

When we first purchased Nav we got the usual 100 reports 50000 to 50099 range. If I create another company that need diff reports, well I'd better start conserving.

& you can sort by anthing in crystal not just what has a key.
