Native Navision Database Size Error

After a server crash, we get the following error on trying to start the Navision Database:

The length of database file (recorded in the file itself) is different from the lemgth recorded by the operating system.

and the database cannot be opened. I tried opening the database in single user mode and using dbreadonly=yes, but still the same error is given. Please note that the size of the fdb file reported by Windows is indeed wrong - Windows reports 56GB whereas the correct size should be something like 3GB.

Can you please suggest of any ways to open this database? Also note that we don't have any recent backups, so it really is very important to be able to recover this database.

Hi,
try to start your client with the parameter "dbreadonly=yes", then make a
backup and rebuild your database with this backup.

Otherwise you have to contact your NSC, which should contact MBS to support you.

There is a tool called C/DART to repair a database, but this is very time
expensive and will be done only by MBS.

And start taking backups every day (or even more).
You can use HOTCOPY to do this.

I've already tried dbreadonly=yes but still I get the same error about the size of the database!

Any other ideas, apart from resorting to MBS?

I believe you need to resort to MBS. The have some internal tools that can help repairing the db. Good luck

Without resorting to Microsoft, you will need to restore a backup and re-enter the transactions as of date.

Even if you send your DB to Microsoft, it'll take at least a day or 2 before you can get it back.

Are there maybe multiple database files?
Did you try to copy the fil and open the new copy?

There is only a single database file. I have already copied the fdb file and I get the same error when trying to open the copy.

It seems the only hope to salvage the database is by sending it to Microsoft. Do you have any idea what Microsoft would charge for this service?
