If we set notification process by a time based event, any setup required for sending email/ noticications automatically. (without run notification worksheet manually) not "field change base"

I have a similar issue but I don't know if I understood right your post.
Suppose that I want to run Business Notification Worksheet standard ITEMSDELAY code once a day scheduled at an hour and also send email.
Is that possible or do we have to change report and codeunit and work with Application Server/ Job Scheduler.
We are now using NAV 5.0
