Connection with Navision Database Server

upasanisandipupasanisandip Member Posts: 405
Hi everyone,
In navision database server we have to put .fdb file in Database Server folder. Execute the schemaxt.exe file & modify the license file name as fin.flf & put also this in Database Server folder.

Is there another step to setup database server ? coz I am facing connection problem from from client to server?

Thanks,
Sandip.

Based on your question, it means you can't access database from client applicationthat you put in your navision database server and not use sql server, just use the search facility in this forum, you can download setup wizard for actifying the navision database server so that all clients can access it. send me your mail, I will send the file if you can't find it. you don't need manual anymore for setting

check the application log and make the database server is connecting to the database correctly first. based on your earlier post here:

    http://www.mibuso.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12640

that might still be a problem.

If the database server is connecting well, and you have successfully schemaxt, the next thing to check is whether or not the client can ping the machine where the database server is running.

let us know how you resolve it.... personally I couldn't make heads or tails of johnson's suggestion.

Johnson are you talking about the database server snap-in?

Ok, I'll send it now. I also find difficult to make my navision database server can access using client application. but after I use it, I can access database using client application and all clients can use it.
let me know if you find difficult to run the set up wizard.

I am not so sure but I just give an alternative. Using the search facility with code "navision database server" in this forum, you will find all things relate to it, including to set up navision data base server so that it can't be accessed by clients according to session allowed in the license. you don't need to use schemaxt, etc..etc.., just let the system set all. it works for me now...
