Hello,
i know it is a little bit early, but can anyone say if the commerce portal will be still included / supported by NAV 5.0?
After reading the Microsoft Dynamics NAV and SQL Server 2005 Communication document i'm a little bit confused. There will be no support for sql 2005. so will it be deprecated in nav 5.0?

If you look at page 26 on the customer card. There is still a commerce portal tab. So I guess it is not depricated.0

What do you mean 'still supported', commerce portal hasn't been a product since 4.00
-
Ok, i hope so.
@DenSter: yes, but you could license it. mbs said that it is not renewed or updated in 4.00 but still supported in old 3.70 fashion
after reading the sql 2005 document i had some bad taste about it. our cp also runs on sql 2005 so we have no problem with it but for an upgrade to nav 5 it should also be implemented in the database and reachable by license...0 -
I asked the UK product manager about Commerce Portal and V4 and I had a reply that stated it was definitely available still with V4.

I have talked to the DK product manager and he says that CP will not be supported in 5.0 and all the CP fields will be removed from the forms.0

Solgaard: Do you know of any "conversion"-solution? My company invested heavily in Commerce Portal programming with Variant-handling and so on.
What to use with 5.0? Have You heard anything?

There is new document in the parntersource "Commerce Portal for Microsoft Dynamics™ NAV 5.0" (Partner confidential), which explain a lot of things regarding Commerce portal in version 5.0.Andrejs Muraskins0

So Microsoft will provide web services to which partners and ISV's can connect to get the data they need to run a custom made B2B or B2C application. Now, let's see what we can see.

Everybody on-line.

As long as the Commerce Portal module still exist in Nav 5.0, with NAS you still can implement Commerce Portal. Since Commerce Portal\Cpwic not included in Nav 4.0 CDs, Microsoft probably won't include them in Nav 5.0 CDs. If Microsoft doesn't remove Commerce Portal module in Nav 5.0 then it'll leave them as 3.70x just like the way they leave them in Nav 4.x. You can use Commerce Portal\Cpwic from 3.70x CDs and implement your Commerce Portal. I'm not sure if Commerce Portal\Cpwic from 3.70x will support SQL Server 2005. It'll work with SQL Server 2000 and Commerce Server 2002. This is in the DMZ zone by the way.
Inside the firewall you can use either Native Navision or SQL 2005.

I wouldn't exactly call it Commerce Portal though, more 'the mess of components formerly known as Commerce Portal'. Maybe you can design a nice symbol for it
Seriously though, Commerce Portal is no longer supported, so using it is at your own risk. MSFT will not even answer support calls for it, and if you can find a solution center that is able to support it it will be very expensive.0 -

I too have heard there will be no further support of Commerce Portal. We switched to an ISV's product, Mediachase's ECF for Dynamics platform with a lot of success with NAV 4.1, and they claim compatibility with 5.0 and 5.1. Real powerful ecommerce/shopping cart solution, pretty friendly support staff.0

You can claim compatibility with 5.1, because it will support a C/SIDE client. nobody can claim compatibility with the new 5.1 client yet, because it isn't available yet.0
