Microsoft Support - 3.60 / 3.70

I need to find out about Microsoft's support policy for previous versions of Navision.

I understand that the 'Mainstream Support' for version 3.6 expired on 31/12/2005 and for version 3.7 it expires on 31/10/2006. But what is exactly mainstream support? Does it mean there is not support for partners at all? Or is it limited to issues not fixed in newer versions?

Any help appreciated,

Jonathan

This just means that Microsoft will stop releasing updates for these versions. However, your solution center should still be able to help you. If not, there are plenty of solution centers that will.

Not supported means that MS will stop working on issues for that version, and they will not require their people to be proficient in it either. It also means that they reserve the right to tell you 'we don't support that version anymore' and hang up on you.

Solution Centers on the other hand can make money providing service, and therefore will usually provide support for all versions in their active customer base, as far as those versions work on existing platforms. They will be able to fix all sorts of object issues and application logic, but they will not be able to make a certain Navision version work on an OS that wasn't around when the software was released.

Most solution centers will welcome any new customer for any support for any version, not just because it is what they do, but also because it is a potential opportunity for extra services. So say next year you are on Navision 2.01 and you have an issue on Vista. You come to us and we will go out of our way to try and help you (and send a bill of course), and maybe we can suggest a technical upgrade, or also address that auto-email thing you always wanted, and complain with you about your old solution center :).
