Again getting in same problem.
I am installing Navision 4 with Employee Portal. I have install Navision 4 SP1 and Employee Portal using following steps:
1 Installed Microsoft Windows 2003
2 Installed Microsoft IIS
3 Installed Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
4 Installed Microsoft Message Queueing Services
5 Installed Microsoft Sharepoint Services
6 Installed Microsoft Visual J# .NET Framework Redistributable Package
7 Installed Navision Database Server or SQL Option 4.01
8 Installed Navision Client
9 Installed NAS
10 Installed Navison Employee Portal Front End Components
Installation of above has been completed successfully, I am getting 4 webparts in Sharepoint Site.
But getting following error while selecting "Modify Shared Web Part":
Communication error (10114): No reply received from Back End System (Time Out).
I have tried above installation several times from scratch but getting same error every time.
What is the problem?

- I have added NEP_user login in groups (NEP_user is Administrator).
Why microsoft not giving proper method to install these all.

2) Check Event log for warnings and errors
(I had no problems when installing NEP... or if I had, that because I had more websites on the server...)

I am getting following warning in ApplicationEvent Log:
The description for Event ID ( 109 ) in Source ( KCPL6-SQL ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: The Navision Demo Database database does not exist on the KCPL6 server.
NAS is running but its throwing above warning.

I have installed everything on same PC and my NEP is working on Non SQL version on same PC.
Now I have stopped Non SQL version and trying to start NEP using SQL version of Navision.
I dont why I am getting above error once when database is there and database server name is also correct and NAS is also running.

the NAS is NOT running properly, otherwise you wont get the error!
Have you configured the NAS over the MMC Snap-In?
The default name of the NAS should be MACHINENAME-SQL (as long as you want to run with SQL option)!

This is the main source of the problem... :-)
Please, clarify this for us:
1) Are you running NAS for SQL and not for Native? (Disable the service for Native DB)
2) Under which name you attached or restored the Cronus company on your SQL server?
3) Have you configured the NAS for SQL correctly (mainly Database name)?
Please, send us as much details as possible (db name, sql name etc., configured parameters of the NAS from registry etc.)

Hi, this is my situation.
I have two websites and two virtual servers extended because I want to configure EP with two different Companys in my Navision SQL Option Database.
I have also two diferent NAS Servers and two sets of MQ queues.
When I installed NEP Front End components I selected one of these two websites. I have reviewed folders and files into C:\Inetpub\wwwroot folder to see the files installed by NEP Front End for copying them into the other website folders.
In the first website NEP works well. In the second no. When I want to mofify any NEP web part in the second website the famous Communication Error (10114) appears.
I have checked event view but there is not any message.
Does anybody know anything about this?
You have created BackEnd Keypair in Administrator --> Employee Portal --> Setup ?
