Filtering rows that have empty field

I am trying to filter all the rows from table that has empty date field.
I tried this:
recTable.SETFILTER("Export date", '');
but looks it just resets the filter and returns all the rows.
Is it possible to filter rows with empty date (or string) field at all?

For a blank date you should do:

recTable.SETRANGE("Export date",0D);

in general though, you can do:

recTable.SETFILTER("Export date",'=%1','');

recTable.SETRANGE("Export date",'');  //SETRANGE instead SETFILTER... :-)
