Merging different country DB's.

Hi All,

I need suggestion in following scenario,
We have a customer who is already using Navision in other country with lots of mods.
Now as he is planning to implement Navision in India,
The ways to go about it are
1)Use already customized DB from other country and merge the India specific localization in to it.
OR
2) Making use of India DB as base merge all the mode from already customized DB.
I would like to know which approach would be good ??
and
for merging what would be the best way,
just comparision of text files
or
Using developer toolkit.
Please suggest.
Thanks in advance.

Regards,

It depends on which way is it easier. How many objects have been modified? How many objects are there in the current Country.

I would just move the objects from India to the local db, and only objects that are Legally required in order to run a Accounting system, If there are not legal requirements, don't need to merge any indian objects.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your suggestion
Thing is either of DB are modified a lot. India localization has lots of mods and many new objects.
I guess it would be a good approach to use already customized DB as base and move only those india localization objects which customer is going to use.
What would be better way to merge
    compare the text files
    or use the developer toolkit.

    Please suggest.

I would use text comparison for these kind of merging. You would have to know about the modification on both side and how they effect the system. Developer toolkit wasn't designed for this.

I think you should decide how much of the localization is actually needed. We here in Hungary tend to have quite "interesting" tax laws, but usually only a small subset of them is necessary for each project.
