adjust cost - never adjust more than once

Just curious:
How does the adjust cost batch job know that an entry has been adjusted and shouldn't be adjusted again next time it runs?

Thanks

I think if you want use regular adjust cost, using adjust cost-item entries, you must consider field "closed period entry posting date", that's the point of answer of your question. I know you want the system to disregard the adjusted cost - item entries because it will recalculate the adjusted but if you make some changes, maybe you can.

In Item ledger entry table there is a field called "Applied Entry to Adjust". This is how adjust routine doesn't look at entries it has adjusted. If you change the field, it will rerun it, but will not find any adjust and change it back , but adjustment routine will run longer.

Thank you for bringing the field to my attention.
The field is switched ON (true) after we post a charge-item pointing to a purchase entry and will be switched OFF (false) after adjust-cost batch is run.

For FIFO, it does what ara3n wrote. For Average, it populates the Avg. Cost Adjmt. Entry Point or Average Cost Adjustment table (based on which version you use) upon inventory movements and adjust those items mentioned there with Valuation Date later than the date shown there.

I would not recomend using average costing in navision. It doesn't work most of the time. Unless you run adjust cost periodically and never go negative on inventory.

Yeah, I agree. Especially for Manufacturing - Valuation Dates often get wrong and that throws the whole thing outta the window. However, some CFO's are just in love with average costing, especial German companies. It must be some kind of cultural preference, I think. So sometimes there is no choice.
