    Dear Timmk,
You must always remember that navision ERP system is a system consists of MRPII. MRPII is manufacturing resource planning. The resource here is human resource, machines/equipment, raw materials and money. In your problem, machines/equipment is one of capacity planning part. You want to make your machines/equipment more controlable, always in good planning and capable to run your production in an efficient and effective way.
That's why capacity planning in Navision consists of infinite loading, finite loading to avoid overloading in a machine center when taking a task to do production order by using CCR (capacity constrained resource), planning calendar that is used to plan your equipment capacity working days, machine or work center to register your equipment. Because without using machine/work center, you can't use capacity planning. In the load functionality, you can see and compare your machine/capacity loading and availability. It is automatically calculated by Navision. Calendar is also automatically calculated by the system.

    Rgds,
    Johnson
