Navision Starter v1.0
A lot of MBS Parners and developoers usually work with a lot of databases, created by different Navision versions. One database are used for demonstration, second for testing, third for internal needs etc etc. Each database need to be run by Navision Client of special version.

In other case we will get either the message "You must upgrade MBS Navision" or the question "Database must be converted..."

In case when we having much databases we got a problem to remember which version of Navision - 3.70, 4.0 or 4.0 SP2 we need to run for one or another database. Of course we could create a lot of shortcuts on our desktop, but it is dreary occupation. And do you want after all look at your desktop as at trash bin? :)

What does Navision Starter do? Navision Starter is utility that automatically detects the database version and starts proper Navision Client.

Interface is very simple - we must determine Database server, Database name, authentication type and press "Ok" button. After, proper version of Navision Client will be automatically started.

    Hi

I get the error 'Please Select Database Name' when I am trying to open a FDB file.

    Regards

    2Tazzy1972: It's a tiny bug.

Choose "MS SQL Mode" and write anything in "Server Name" and "Database File". After choose "FDB Mode" and click "Ok".

It's already fixed but not uploaded to mibuso.com

This utility is unnecessary -- all you need do is create a shortcut for each db. In response to: "...do you want after all look at your desktop as at trash bin?", the solution is simply to create a folder on your desktop called "Navision db's", and put all your shortcuts in it.

As to me, I have 14 shortcuts for each Navision version (from 3.01 to 4.0SP2 and two shorcuts for Native and SQL-Option), plus we have more than 30 nav databases on our corporate SQL-Server, plus I have a lot of local FDB-files (about 10)... Totally, that's about 14+30+10=54 shortcuts!

    Real shortcut-hell :-)

I've currently have 4.0 installed (with native db) and would like to try out 4.0 SP3. Can I just install 4.0 SP3 in a different path and that would be okay to have 2 clients running?
