Changing IP adress change and domain name

Hi Folks
I have a question regarding a job I have to do soon: our company was taken over by another and we now have to change IP adresses and domain name of the complete IT infrastructure to integrate into the network of them.
We use Navision Attain 3.60 on 2 DB servers, one for working business, one for testing and backup purposes. The users use either locally installed client software or work in Citrix terminal server sessions depending of where they are.
I don´t know a lot of Naision Attain because it was installed by a supplier and since then we never had to change anything. We do not stay in contact to this supplier any more, this comapny doesn´t exist any longer.
How does Attain work in detail? What do have I to do or pay attention on regarding Attain when changing the server´s IP adress and domain name?
Thank you for any help. :?

In general this is not a problem.
You only have to check that the services/hosts file on the server and the clients point to the correct TCP/IP and port (this last not really a problem for you).
In case the users have a shortcut to launch Navision, you might also check the shortcut to see if the connection-parameters are put in the shortcut. The parameter (if it is there) you need to check is "SERVERNAME=TheServer". "TheServer" should be the name or the TCP/IP of your server. It is also possible to write this: SERVERNAME=TheServer:ThePort.
In case you don't find a port for the services in the services file, it means that the standard port is used. Like I already wrote before, you don't need to check this in your case).Regards,Alain Krikilion

What about a change of server name? Is that also no problem? I think so if i understand your answer correctly...0 -
