Report Writer for Item Journal Line ...

While in the design mode of report writer for the Item Journal Line (the raw code showing), I'm having trouble achieving the desired effect. What I want the Item Journal Line to do is the following: if the Variant Code field is populated, then I want Description 2 from the Item Variant table to display there. Any ideas how I might go about coding this? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
