Navision Database Server on Windows XP Pro?

Hi!

I followed the installation procedure and everything went well ok until I tried to connect to it from a client machine. The database service is running, I added a Schema Extension to Active Directory, both client and server use the same TCP protocol but every time I try to access the database I get a connection timeout error.

Can Navision Database Server be run on Windows XP Pro? If yes, am I doing something wrong?

Any help is appreciated.

Do you setup Firewaal on server?
Do you setup hosts and services files?
Do you try to ping server from client machine?

Once again, Occam's Razor applies. The simplest explanation is often the right one. In this case, I forgot to turn off the Windows XP firewall.

What is Occam's Razor?

Occam's Razor is a principle that basically states that one should not increase, beyond what is necessary, the number of entities required to explain anything. In other words, from a set of otherwise equivalent models of a given phenomenon always choose the simplest one.
