Blob doesn't work changing from 3.70 to 4.0 SP1

Hi,

we used Navision 3.70 partly as a server for an Access Databasewith CODBC 3.51. There are some tables which are storing OLE in Blob fields. Everything worked fine until we got to change to 4.0 SP1 and NODBC. It is a lot slower and the Blob fields don't work.
We may store a bitmap picture in the table and it will open with its OLE server just like it did with 3.70 (just slower). But after we closed and reopened the table again, the OLE field is empty or does not show the bitmap.
Is this a bug in NODBC or did we make a mistake???

Thank you in advance!

Maybe problems with compressed blob fields? Have you tried to disable compression on this blob field within Navision?

Thank you for the quick answer! How may I disable compression? Is this a new feature concerning 4.0?

No, this is old property on the field. In Navision go into designer, open the table in designer, select the field and open the properties. There you can disable compression...

Thank you again! I searched the "compression" property and could not find it. Now I know why. It is because we are using the native database not SQL Server. I do not know what may be wrong because with 3.70 and the native db everything works fine. We did not change anything and the 4.0 version does not allow to store my blobs.

In the old ODBC were option "Enable BLOB Fields". Have you checked that if there is same option in the new N/ODBC?

Ok, I wanted to be sure that you did... 8)

Please, try to report that as Support issue, it can be bug and if there is some workaround the MS will send it to you.

Thanks to all. I contacted the MBS-support and it is a bug in NODBC. It would be fine if I will get some appreciation like a honorable mentioning or if they would give this bug a name like maybe "toccato1" the same way new planets are called by their discoverer. \:D/

If they will name bugs, than we have right now all existing names used with number suffix to 9999 :-)
