one line transfer order - several lines in item ledger

hi
question's day
3.6 version
i have the following situation:
one transfer order with just one line.
item x, ten pieces.
when i post the shipment of all the ten pieces, the system does in item ledger entry several lines with different quantities. the sum of this quantities is ten, which is correct, since i've shipped ten pieces.
but
when i try to post the receipt of this transfer order, again for ten pieces which happily arrived at the destination, the system matches the "to be received" quantity of ten with the quantity from the first line made in item ledger entry, which is, obviously, less then ten.
it gives me an "out of stock" kind of error and stops the posting process.
this is happening once in a while and we couldn't find out a reasonable explanation for the splitting of the lines. the cost is the same and i don't think that this quantity of ten is made from several purchases made at different dates.
so.
why does it splits the lines?
why doesn't add them up at the receiving?
thanks
