Smart Tags in v5.0 - What,Where,Why and How...

In the version 5.0 change document they say that they've removed Smart Tags - Does anyone know the reason behind this?

We were looking at using this functionality but in a v5.0 database.

Any comments, suggestions?

    The SmartTag granule was discontinued one year ago. It seems to some problems around ownership or something like that.

    thanks for the replies.
    would it be a 'do-able' solution to duplicate the Smart tags functionality in v4 and pull it across to v5?
    or would it be easier to put on a helmet and run down an airstrip flapping my arms and take off?

    For me Smart-Tag module is separate part of the system, it will be easy to trasnfer it. You just cannot sell this granule anymore. And there can be problem with support for next Office releases (with Office 2007 it is working).
