Hi Experts,
I am working on Navision HR and i am required to provide a functionality that can store files like letters, memos etc, on each employees record for reference in the future.
I looked at the codeunit 5052 and pictures, but i don't think that they can satisfy my objective.
I don't know if you can store one or more letters and also wether the records can be stored for each employee.
can anyone help me out?
thanks.

There are a number of add-on products that have this functionality, and it is also fairly easy to design yourself.
MatriksDocs does just this, and its fairly cheap.
A little more expensive, and much more useful is Tectura Workflow.
Alternatively, you could just write it yourself. The idea is that you create a table with a blob field (to store your files), and with fields to store the table no you want to link the objects and the primary keys of that table. You also need to adjust some posting routines.0 -
Hi girish.joshi,
I am finding difficult to understand what you said. I am a Newbie in Navision, so i would like you to explain the Steps i should take one by one so that i could understand and then implement it.
Please i need your help.0 -
In Navision 5.0, the document linking is a standard feature. Try upgrading your executables to version 5.0.Confessions of a Dynamics NAV Consultant = my blog

If there is no time, then the fastest way to go is doing an executable upgrade.
An hour or 2 should take care of it.Confessions of a Dynamics NAV Consultant = my blog

Our Client is having version 4.0. Upgrading means upgrading the client too. Our client wants to remain at 4.0. So is there an alternative way of taking care of this? I used the functionality that is use to store pictures in bitmap, but that has not solved my problem.
please i would like to be shown the steps one at a time for the alternative solution.
Thanks.0 -
Hi Kol,
1. If you upgrade the Nav 4.0 Client to 5.0 executables along with the server still you will not be able to use the function of document link which is present in 5.0. Because you will have a liscence of 4.0 and this will not allow you to use this functionality.
2. There is no out of the box feature in NAV HR module to provide the functionality that you require.
3. If the time is short then you can go for addons that are available and compatible with NAV 4.0 as girish said.
4. If you have time then you can customize this, to store the blobs in a table.Diptish Naskar
