How to handle shipping costs?

We use Type Item called Shipping to invoice shipping costs because type charge Item does not show on the Posted Invoice.

How do other companies handle shipping costs?

The problem I have with type Item is that it has to be picked, we have to adjust it into stock and if then we also have to create it in the the correct location.

    In earlier versions of Navision, this was usually solved by using a line with Type = Resource, taking care of all the quantity issues.

    But the best way to go is definitely with Item Charges. Through modification, it would be possible to show the item charges on the Posted Invoice, or to make it easier to see the item charges quickly.

    Yes, Type Resource would be perfect for our system but we use jobs and you can only purchase/sell a resource if you can reference a job. I guess I can put in a validation to skip Type Resource called shipping.

    There are other ways: You can also use a Standard Purchase Code and map that to a g/l account.
