Difference between Line Amount and Amount

Hi all,

As the subject of the topic says clearly; what is the exact difference between Line Amount and Amount except that Amount is used by Navision internally and Line Amount is the net amount of the line (including / excluding VAT) except invoice discount? Well, what I ask for is when Navision prefers to use Amount internally and when it does not, although Line Amount seems to provide everything a developer ever needs...

    As I see it with Sales Lines

    The Amount field is not populated unless the order is released.
    The Line Amount is always populated.

    If a customer is setup wuth Invoice discounts
    Then the Amount field will show the line total w/ discount
    The Line Amount field won't.

    ex/
    1 piece of item XYZ @ 15.29 with "Invoice Discount" %35
    Amount field = $9.94
    Line Amount = $15.29

    Amount also tends to include VAT if prices include VAT
