Hi,
Is it possible to take an SQL Backup while users are logged on to the server. Will that cause any sort of problems to the database. Plz advice.

It is possible to make a SQL backup, using the backup utilities/tools for SQL Server, while users are working within Navision. It is not possible to make the backup by using the backup functionality within Navision itself.

Actually, you can if you are lucky

Making a backup in SQL is not a problem. Most of the time the users don't even notice the performance-loss because it is limited.

No issues with SQL Backup or even by using Veritas backup utility online with many users.
If using Navision backup utility for SQL database it does backup if by luck the table is not locked by any user. I am using EXPANDIT backup utility release 3.0 before some time it was taking backup automatically and even assigning the new file name and zipping it as well but since few weeks it always ends up with error that due to replication process running but strange thing that it used to run before as well but dont know what happend now I have to stop the replication to make backup without asking any other user to logout. Any body having any idea about this strange behaviour of Backup?

    regards
