Mrp/mps

Good day, l hope l will get some answers to these questions.
I am using Nav 4.0.1. I have setup my production forecast, and have WIP and a few Sales Orders. Now when l run the MRP/MPS its suggesting figures on the production forecast only. Its not netting with the inventory and WIP, yet the WIP and invwntory is all withing the planning period l have specified. So, what seting am l missing here.
Does Lot size (on the item table) play a role in MRP, or its just for the cost calculation? is there, therefore a setting to make MRP suggestion come in batched.
I have noticed that the scrap l hahve set on the item card are not being considered during planning too.
I hope l am clear enough, although l would gladly explain my situation again.
Thank you

Hi,
For the netting problem you must also set location for the forecast you have made. if forecast qty of produced item > sales order, system will use forecast qty - inventory in the same location. As about WIP, you must created a WIP location and WIP item then put it as same as forecasted item.
The lot size in the item table will be used in the production BOM. What I mean here is that item that set to be purchase will use it. if it is production, it will use lotsize field in routing.
As about scrap: the system will use the scrap calculation in production BOM and routing.

Thanks,
The plan is making more sense now. But is there a way of aggregating the forecast with no location, and have inventory in all locations netted up?
I have read that the plan assumes "infinite capacity" but my start and end time on the plan are for a normal 5 day wrking week (8 - 430), based on the routing times (setup, run time etc).$cside -MBS

No, there is no solution for your question, MPS/MRP logic in NAV will be per location.
eg : if you have a demand ( Sales Order ) in location A, then absolutely this demand will also be supplied from location A, although you have more stocks in location B )
Actually I have been looking for a long time for this solution.
To solve your problem , you can do as following
1. use bin ( as your location of items )
2. only use location if you want to purposely exclude your MPS/MRP
( we use different location code to store bad Items, so NAV wont include your bad stocks ( Items ) in your MPS/MRP calculation

It should be a very easy mod for your partner to Net the locations. We had the same problem. On each location we have a check box for Nettable / Non Nettable. If it is nettable it Nets back to our main location (01). They can alos add per location which location to net to if needed. This is then factored in with a plannign mod that first nets the inventory to the specified location.
