Hi,
A user wants to reverse a posted item journal, which had 16 lines with Entry Type as Negative Adjustment and one line as Positive Adjustment.
The user noticed that after posting the above item journal, stock for some of the items became negative.
Now users are not able to make any shipment.
Please advise how to reverse this journal.
Thanks and Regards,
Beatrice.

You have to do the reverse operation.
16 lines positive and 1 negative0 -
Thanks for reply.
I did same for the purpose of testing on a posted item journal.
I noticed that the Cost Amount (Actual) is different on the Item Ledger Entry when I posted the reversal although I have put same Unit Cost as on the original Item Journal.
Also the Quantity on some of the stock items have become Negative.
Please advise.

In Item item journal fill Applies-to Entry0

Hi,
When I fill the Applies-to Entry field, should I choose same Entry No. as the one on the originally Posted Item Journal's Item Ledger Entry?
Thnx and Rgds,

for new 16 positive adjmt. lines, you should select posted negative adjmt. lines in the "Apply-from Entry" field.
for new negative adjmt. line, you should select posted positive adjmt. line in the "Apply-to Entry" field.0 -
I have done as you mentioned, but for some lines when I lookup on the Applies-To Entry field and select the Item Ledger Entry, I get the following message:
Quantity must be negative in Item Journal Line Journal Template='ITEM', Journal Batch Name='DEFAULT',Line No='10,000'.
Please advise.

reverve the line with the same entry type with negative qty.0

If the inventory is in the negatives and you want to do positive adjustment, you'll need to use the Applies-From Entry No.
Using the Applies-From Entry No. will create an additional open entry with the positive quantities. This means that the negative remaining quantity will not be applied to the positive remaining quantity.
Since the inventory is in the negatives, when you post a regular positive adjustment, it will use the cost that's associated with the positive adjustment. This means that it's important for you to specify the correct Unit Amount on the positive adjustment.Confessions of a Dynamics NAV Consultant = my blog
