Nettype TCPS

Hello,
Are there prerequisites to use the default nettype TCPS ?
If I install a server with nettype TCPS I cann't connect the client.
The Services File is set up (I think tcp or tcps is not used here)
The Client shortcut has also nettype=tcps param
I'm using an XP PRO - NAV5W1.
Any idea ? Something to install ?

I haven't been able to make TCPS work, in fact I've found it to be the cause of many issues. There might be a way, but I don't even try anymore.

Best way : don't use it. I don't know any one who uses it.

To use TCPS you need to have valid certificates for your PCs (and may be users?). But it is just my meaning... never used that...

    I think you're right.
I wonder if anyone uses it. I haven't run into any manual (yet) that explains the use either...

    Thank you for your feedback.

Maybe the official answer is at page 5 of :
    W1W1 Security Hardening Guide 5.00.pdf
$The C/SIDE Database Server for Dynamics NAV and TCPS
...TCPS is a strict protocol and will only allow you to log on to the C/SIDE Database Server if:
    • the computer you are using is a member of the same domain as the server.
    • the user account that you are using is a Windows domain account in the same domain as the server and has been assigned some role(s) in the database.

For me, that's the same as: "please only use TCP"

With TCP, you go to a customer with your portable, you connect to their network (even if your portable has another domain), and you can connect to their DB (at max you need to change your network settings).

With TCPS, you should first change your domain! And that is not so easy, because it asks an admin password to enter the domain!

    Conclusion : DON'T USE TCPS!

The worst part is that during the installation, it defaults to TCPS... :(
