Hyperlink

I have created a field which contains a file location, and I have then assigned HYPERLINK(File) to a button. This works fine, aslong as the path is a mapped drive, but when I put it in as a network location \\server\documents, then IE tries to load it as a http, which then gets messed up..
Is HYPERLINK the correct function to be using in this case?..
Basically when a report is run to a pdfprinter, the printer will save a copy (name generated in Navision), and then the report adds this name to the table, along with server location.. The user can then hit the hyperlink button to view the PDF, but the map drive method may cause a problem..
Thanks

Thanks to both of you..
I opted for the easiest method first (only as I have never used the shell command!), and put FILE: into my default "storage server" field which is then used to create the path.. Initial testing looks like this has done the trick! If not, no doubt I will be back to ask about the shell command, and if so, I will be back to put [solved] into the header!0
