I have a problem with a client for who i imported data from their old system.
They use "." in their Item Nos and where used to enter and search for them by using the numpad.
MBS usses the regional settings in windows to determine what the entered symbol is and over here in Belgium it is a "," so now they asked for a solution ...
Do any of you have any suggestions ?
Changing the keybord layout doesn't change anything

They were able to do it in their old system so they want to do in on the new one also !

So on the numeric pad it will be a '.'.
BUT also all numbers will be with a decimal point.
Navision follows the regional settings on this.

Use your right hand to enter numbers on the numpad. Use the index finger of your left hand over the "." key and press it as needed. That hand isn't doing anything anyway. This is just as fast, and probably faster once you get used to it.

To enter a "." on the belgian layout you have to press shift ... that's what's bugging them
I have also thought of this, but the problem is as you said, the representation in all other applications will be wrong also ...

I have seen these types of users, and really this is not an option. One of my early Windows implementations was a danish customer that moved from an AS/400 system. They could enter sales order lines with their right had's finger going crazy over a numeric keyboard whilst flipping through pages and drinking coffee with their left hand, and having a phone conversation on hands free. In this case we just got them all to switch . and , but I can see situations where its not possible. In those cases there are two options. The best is the one Kamil suggests, the other is that you can find numeric keypads with both . and ,
.... couldn't this keyboard remapping idea be taken one step further?
(please bear in mind I am not completely familiar with Belgian Keyboards, I know that they are AZERTY but not much more).
I am assuming that there is a NumLock key on the Number Pad.
I am also assuming that there is another key that is rarely (if ever) used, the Pause key for example (not on the Number Pad).
I figure that the Comma key could remain a dedicated key (without shift).
The Period key could be remapped to the Numlock key and could be used without shift.
The NumLock key could be remapped to the 'rarely' used key.
You could purchase some keyboard overlay stickers for visual reference.
I would have to think that the users wouldn't be using the Numlock very often in comparison to the Comma and Period keys and this would keep these two keys on the Number Pad. You could tweak the layout further by moving around other Number Pad keys to suit your precise needs.
I may be barking up the wrong tree but it may be another option. :-k
