Is there any upgrade toolkit and developer toolkit available to upgrade Navision 4.0 to 4.0 SP2.
I browsed thorugh the Download section in mibuso, and only found the upgrade toolkit for SP1.

There is no upgrade toolkit, because there is no data to upgrade.
You simply have to load the new objects. If you've modified any of those objects, then you have to merge the modified objects.0 -
OK. Ara3n. Thanks for your reply.
I planned to do as follow to do the upgrade:
1) Install a new copy of 4.0 SP2
2) Merge my customized code in the existing 4.0 database to the new 4.0 SP2
3) Backup the data from the existing 4.0 database (I means un-check the Application Objects check box while doing backup)
4) Restore the data into the new 4.0 SP2 database
Will the above procedures sufficient and safe to do the upgrade ?0 -
Yep. that's correct.
Is there a reason why you are not moving to sp3?0 -
Hawwa,
I don't think that it's wise to do the changes directly on the live DB. Just out of security and error avoiding reasons.
It's best that you do the merge of the objects in a seperate database.(preferably a demo database from the SP2/SP3 CD)
Once the merge is finished, you can then create a test DB on which you import all the objects (via fob) of the adjusted SP2/SP3 database.
After a test period, you can then do the same thing on the live DB.
Regards,Now, let's see what we can see.

If you look at his steps. He is not touching live db. All he is doing to the live db is export the objects. then make a backup.
Testing and then putting in it production is common sense.0 -
ara3n,
If you look at the standard upgrade toolkit documentation you will see that my proposed way of working is the standard way of working for a Navision upgrade.

GoMad. I'm not saying that you are wrong. I do agree with what you said about upgrading a database.0
-
Thanks Ara3n and GoMad.
I will not touch the existing 4.0 live database. The merging will be done in 4.0 SP2 so that while I am doing merging and testing, my users still can continue working with the existing 4.0 database.
Ara3n,
I do have a reason not to upgrade to SP3.0 -
care to share the reason? I'm curious.0

It's not Navision problem. Nothing wrong with SP3. It's just a management decision.0
