replacing fin.flf

If I replace the fin.flf license in the folder where the server executable runs from, is that enought? That is, do I need to also replace the fin.flf in a user's local client folder?
What would Elvis do?

    Steve,

Are you trying to upload a newer license file?
I usually log in as "sa" into Navision then do "Tools->License Information->Upload" to load the new license.

From what we have seen, you only NEED to do it on the server side. The client side is noticeable when they start the application. If you don't have a copy of your license locally, the splash screen will probably say CRONOS International, etc. etc. etc. instead of YOUR COMPANY, etc. etc. etc.

We updated our local licenses the weekend we upgraded from 3.6 to 4.0 and not since, although we have updated the server license numerous times since then.

maybe someone else has a different answer?
    kind of fell into this...

    It depends....

When you start up NAV, it will try to pick up any fin.flf that is in the programs folder. This is the license that it will use as long as you use local database files.

When you connect to a NAV database server, or to a SQL Server that has a NAV database on it, it will then replace that fin.flf with the one that is installed on the server.

You can then change the license and reconnect to the server for temporary license loads (for instance I do this when I connect to a customer database and I need access to the object design), or do an import/upload if you need to refresh the license on the server.

Do not forget that UPLOAD is working just on SQL DB.

And it is not good to import (replace) the fin.flf on client from security reasons. Clients do not need it.
