Hi
Can I run NAS for different Companies of One Database at a time.
How to create different application servers with different companies of
the same database.
I can't create more than one application server in my desktop.

you have copy the nas folder to another folder, from command prompt run it with parameters to installasservice.
Remember that With Default License Navision comes with one NAS license.
So if you want to run multiple instances at the same time for different company, you need to get a new license.0 -
we have development licence.
Can we careate multiple services with different companies of one db with
the development licence
I installed nas on my desktop and changed the licence to development licence.

you have copy the nas folder to another folder, from command prompt go to the new folder nassql.exe if you are using sql and nas.exe if you are using native server
nassql.exe appservername=TheNasName, servername=TheServerName, database=TheDatabaseName, company="The Company", nettype=tcp, startupparameter=SomeStartupParameter, objectcache=30000,installasservice0 -
There's a document on the product CD called w1w1atas.pdf or something, which will explain all the details about NAS. It also explains how to install multiple instances of NAS.
By the way, having a developer license does not guarantee multiple instances of NAS. It is a granule called 'application server' and should appear when you look at your license from within NAV. If there is no line for that granule, you only have a maximum of one instance.0 -
Look for Granule 1415 or 1420. Those relate to the NAS licensing. If I remember the 1415 Granule will give you one additional license and the 1420 Granule will give you multiple additional licenses.

we have 175 different companies in 1 Navision database, no problems reported. Press Ctrl-O to switch between them all. The challenge is to create global reports if you want to report by multiple companies.

The highest No of companies I heard was 70.
175 wow. How big is the db and how many users?0 -
47 users, 48Gb database (over 4 hard drives), native Navision 4.01 (with a LOT of modifications).Best regards,

Is there a reason why you chose Native over sql?
I guess the chance of two people working in the same company and posting is pretty slim.0 -
sql version of Navision was pretty weak when we have chosen Navision back in 2001, so it is tradition now
we do have people working and posting in the same company all the time (we have 5% large ones that take 90% of all activities) - one just have to wait for the table to be unlocked when other is posting (takes seconds). I would not recommend processing from the same batch though...Best regards,
